Da es sich bei diesem Buch um das bisher einzige deutschsprachige Werk zum Thema Tokelau handelt, ist Anke Richters sehr persönlich geschriebener “Bericht aus einem sinkenden Paradies” hierzulande eine Pflichtlektüre für all diejenigen, die sich mit Tokelau beschäftigen. Die Süddeutsche Zeitung urteilt sehr treffend: “Anke Richter erzählt so leicht und dicht, spannend und amüsant vom Leben auf ihrer Tropeninsel, zeichnet nuancierte Porträts der Insulaner und weiß ihren Text so sicher und effektvoll zu strukturieren, dass man als Leser bedauert, als nach sieben Monaten die Abschiedsstunde [...] schlägt.” Die Lektüre dieses Buches ist unbedingt zu empfehlen!

	Te Vaka (deutsch: Das Kanu) ist heute eine der bekanntesten und beliebtesten Musikgruppen aus dem pazifischen Raum. Der Bandleader und Songtexter Opetaia Foa’i stammt, wie einige der anderen Bandmitglieder auch, von tokelauischen Vorfahren ab, doch in den Liedern von Te Vaka spiegeln sich Elemente vieler pazifischer Kulturen wieder. Kennzeichnend für die Musik der Gruppe ist die Synthese traditioneller tokelauischer und moderner Musikinstrumente. Bei dieser CD handelt es sich um eine Neuveröffentlichung von Te Vakas Debüt-Album mit zusätzlichen neuen Liedern. Folgende Songs sind auf der CD enthalten: Tokelau, Te namo (deutsch: Die Lagune), Pate mo tou vae (Baumtrommeln für deine Füße), Papa e (Ein Lied für meinen Vater), Ki te la (Laß die Sonne scheinen), Toku Matua (Heimat meiner Mutter), Tautai e (Der Meisterfischer), Vaka gaoi (Sklavenschiff), Tagi Sina (Sina weint), Te vaka (Das Kanu), E keli (Das Graben), Ika ika (Fisch), Siva mai (Laß uns tanzen).
